About the Wolverine-Hermann Amendment Project

The Wolverine-Hermann Amendment Project will contribute significantly to the regional economy and if approved, will mean continued direct employment for over 300 employees and 1000 indirect jobs for families in the Peace River. The Hermann Pit will provide coal for the continued operation of the Wolverine Coal Processing Plant; Wolverine Mine operations employees will be transferred from the Perry Creek Pit to the Hermann Pit.

Like the Perry Creek Pit, the Hermann Pit would produce coal by open-pit mining methods and has the potential to produce approximately 9 million tonnes (Mt) of metallurgical coal for sale in the export market.

Coal from the Hermann Pit would be transported to Wolverine via the coal haul route, processed at the Wolverine processing plant, and shipped to market by rail from the Wolverine loadout facility.

Community and Indigenous Involvement

Conuma values its partnerships with families, communities, and Indigenous communities. Currently our operations in the region produce more than 900 direct and 3000 indirect jobs for families in the Peace River.

We continue to work with community organizations and Indigenous groups to identify employment and contracting opportunities at our operations. Throughout this process we are engaging with communities and Indigenous groups to ensure we are:

1. Building awareness about the Wolverine-Hermann Amendment Project and the continued opportunities it provides

2. Gathering input and understanding the interests and concerns related to the project

3. Refining and identifying where possible, mitigative measures to respond to issues raised by stakeholders
